I'd like to introduce you to our first cause, Cole.
Cole is 2 years old and was diagnosed with a severe brain disorder called "Epileptic Encphalothopy" when he was 10 months old. Prior to his diagnosis, Cole was a perfectly healthy little boy that had no evidence of seizures or complications whatsoever. He now has hundreds of seizures a day (absent, drop and infantile spasms) and has regressed developmentally. Medications have failed at treating Cole's sezuires and he was supposed to have brain surgery last week to remove his left temporal and occipital lobes. The day before surgery 50 doctors assessed Cole and determined that surgery was too risky because they discovered a malformation on his right side as well (and they can't do surgery on both sides of the brain). Now Cole will try a brand new medication, Vigabatrin, to try to control the seizures so they can properly determine where to operate in his brain. Cole will be having brain surgery in August at the Clevland Clinic in Ohio. Cole's parents are pillars of strength and have been through so much with Cole's epilepsy. They both work full-time and have sacrificed so much to provide Cole with the best medical care for his needs. To find out more about Cole, you can read their blog here: http://beatingepilepsy.blogspot.com/.
Cole's mom helped us design this awesome cover for "Cole's Cause". Cole is a hip, steezy, and fun-loving little boy and this cover reminds us of him. Black and white covers are so popular and the chevron stripes just dial up the style factor.
